McCoy Road will be closed beginning Monday, June 11, 2012 for the replacement of the bridge over Gar Creek, located approximately 1 mile north of Beatties Ford Road.
The contract completion date for the project is October 15, 2012 and NC DOT currently estimates completion by October 1st. The contractor can continue vegetation and reforestation work through March 30, 2013
Designated/signed detour routes will be posted on Hambright Road & Beatties Ford Road.
This Project was designed, let, awarded, and is being administered by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. Appletuck & Associations, Inc. out of Rutherfordton, NC is the prime contractor.
The $680,000 contract was awarded to remove the existing bridge and substructure, build up the shoulders on the approaches to the bridge, and widen the existing lanes from ten feet to eleven feet. The new bridge will be able to handle heavier vehicles and increased traffic volumes.
