Main Street Upgrades
NC 73 (Sam Furr Road) at Northcross Drive
As part of the Town's capitol improvement plan, an exclusive northbound right-turn lane on Northcross Drive at NC 73 is proposed. The objective of this roadway improvement is to reduce congestion and increase capacity of the intersection. This project is currently in the planning phase and is planned for construction in fiscal year 2012-2013.

As part of the Town's capitol improvement plan, an exclusive southbound left-turn lane on McCoy Road at Julian Clark Avenue is proposed. The objective of this roadway improvement is to improve safety and increase capacity of the intersection. This project is currently in the planning phase and is planned for construction in fiscal year 2012-2013.

NC 115 (Old Statesville Road) at Stumptown Road
As part of the Town's capitol improvement plan, an exclusive northbound left-turn lane on NC 115 (Old Statesville Road), an exclusive eastbound right-turn lane on Stumptown Road, and installation of a traffic signal are proposed. The objective of this roadway improvement is to reduce congestion and increase capacity of the intersection. This project is currently planned for construction in fiscal year 2012-2013.

Birkdale Village/Northcross Drive Connection
As part of the Town's capitol improvement plan, a bridge across McDowell Creek to link Townley Road in Birkdale Village to North Pointe Executive Park is proposed. The objective of this improvement is to remove local traffic from NC 73 (Sam Furr Road), provide relief to the intersection of Northcross Drive and NC 73 (Sam Furr Road), and improve access to the CATS park and ride lot. This project is scheduled for planning in fiscal year 2012-2013 and planned for construction in fiscal year 2013-2014.

US 21 (Statesville Road) at Gilead Road
As part of the Town's capitol improvement plan, a major upgrade to the intersection of US 21 (Statesville Road) at Gilead Road is proposed. The improvements proposed include additional through lanes, additional turn lanes, accommodations for bicyclists and pedestrians, and median and access management components. The objective of this roadway improvement is increase safety, reduce congestion, and increase capacity of the intersection. This project scheduled for planning in fiscal year 2012-2013 and construction in fiscal year 2013-2014.

Main Street Upgrades
As part of the Town's capitol improvement plan, a plan to provide an alternative route to NC 115 (Old Statesville Road) through downtown Huntersville is proposed. The objective of this roadway improvement is to upgrade Main Street and provide a connection to NC 115 (Old Statesville Road) at both Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road and Fourth Street. This connection is intended to provide significant north/south capacity in downtown Huntersville without widening of NC 115 (Old Statesville Road) and significantly enhance access to the future rapid transit station. This project is scheduled for planning in fiscal year 2012-2013 and for construction in 2013-2015.
