Indoor Facilities

The Huntersville Parks and Recreation Department has eight indoor recreation facilities that offer over 55,000 sq. ft. of indoor space.  These facilities can be rented for your next practice or sporting event.  These facilities had more than 150,000 visits in 2012.

Barnette Elementary School Gymnasium
13659 Beatties Ford Road

This joint venture in 2008 between Town of Huntersville Parks and Recreation Department and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, offers a brand new recreational facility. The Barnette Elementary School Gym is a full regulation size gym that has the ability to support multiple recreational activities, mainly basketball and volleyball. This is a great opportunity for Huntersville residents to utilize such a great facility.

Directions:
From I-77, exit 23; go west on Gilead Rd. and continue to go west as Gilead Road turns into Bud Henderson Rd. continue on Bud Henderson Road as it will end at the intersection Beatties Ford Road. Barnette Elementary Gym will be at the intersection of Bud Henderson Rd. and Beatties Ford Rd directly beside Richard Barry Memorial Park. Map It 
 

Dellwood Center

The Dellwood Center was formally an old one room schoolhouse that was built in the 1920’s that sits on 3 acres. This facility has one large multipurpose room with a full-size kitchen as well as restroom facilities. This facility is available for rentals.

From I-77, exit 23; Go East on Gilead Rd. Then Right onto South Church Street; then left on Dellwood Drive; the center will be on the right. Map It


Arts & Cultural Center 

109 S. Old Statesville Rd.

The Arts and Cultural Center was formerly the North Mecklenburg Branch Library.  Located in the heart of downtown Huntersville.  Located across the street from the Discovery Place Kids Museum.  This 1,500sq.ft center is available for public meetings, programs and other events. This facility has off street parking for twenty cars. Building capacity is 50 people.

From I77, exit 23; Gilead Rd. to Rte 115; Rte 115 south; center will be on left 1/2 block off of Gilead Rd. Map It

 
Waymer Center

Located on Holbrooks Road, this recreation center consists of an 8,000sq. ft. indoor gymnasium. The Waymer Center is home to the department's after-school and summer camp programs. The Center can also be rented for a minimal fee. This gymnasium facility is now air-conditioned.

Huntersville Elementary Gym

 Located on Gilead Road, this joint venture between the Town Huntersville and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in 2000 has provided further recreation opportunities for Huntersville residents as well as students of Huntersville Elementary.

The Department will offer a variety of programs throughout the year and the gym will be open at certain times for open play. The gym can also be rented for a minimal fee for sports practice.

From I77, exit 23; Gilead Rd. to Sherwood Dr.; turn left onto Sherwood Dr.; 1/2 block to park; parking lot and entrance will be on your left. Map It


Lake Norman Charter Middle School

This joint venture in 2007 between the Town of Huntersville and Lake Norman Charter School, offers a brand new recreational facility. The Charter School has a full-sized gym as well as a multi-purpose room for recreational classes and programs. This is a great opportunity for Huntersville residents and Lake Norman Charter School students to utilize such a great facility.

Lake Norman Charter High School

Torrence Creek Elementary
Multipurpose Room

Located on Ranson Road, this joint venture in 2005 between the Town of Huntersville and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has provided extra recreational opportunities for Huntersville residents as well as students of Torrence Creek Elementary.  This location offers a large multi-purpose room which will allow the Department to offer a variety of recreational classes and programs.
