Huntersville ATHLLETIC PARK OUTDOOR FITNESS ZONE (Opened on March 19, 2019)
The project includes the Town's first outdoor fitness zone. This fitness zone will sit adjanct to the paved walking trail at the Huntersville Athletic Park. This project will provide park visitors a variety of exercises that will work every muscle in their body. This project is made possible by the donations from NovantHealth and Keffer Auto Group. This project is anticipated to be completed by March 1, 2019.
New North Mecklenburg PARK Playground
This project includes the replacement of the 20 plus year old playground at North Mecklenburg Park. This playground is one of the most used playgrounds in our park system. The new playground has a nature theme and the new poured in place rubber will have leaves built into it. We were able to save the popular rocking dinosaur as part of the new playground. This playground includes five slides, activity panels, rock climber, funnel bridge, bongos, therapeutic rings, clover leaf climber, sensory spinner and more. We have also added an additional six new park benches. Estimated completion date: April 1, 2019.
Huntersville Recreation Center (Opened on January 15, 2018)
This project includes the construction of a 24,000 sq ft. recreation center that houses 4 volleyball courts, 4 pickleball courts, 2 main basketball courts, 4 small basketball courts, a civic room, café seating and staff offices. This project is a partnership between Huntersville, Mecklenburg County and Central Piedmont Community College. Novant Health is the Facility Sponsor for the new Recreation Center.
Veterans Park (Opened on June 14, 2018 )
The Town of Huntersville celebrated the official grand opening of Veterans on June 14, 2018.
This park includes a Veterans Memorial that has six stone columns representing each branch of the military as well as a large 5,000lb granite globe that floats on water. The park also includes a large festival lawn as well as the Ice House Stage. This project was a partnership between the Town of Huntersville, Rotary Club, American Legion Post 321 and the Sons of the American Legion. Events and festivals are held at the park year round.
Bradford Park Turf and Lighting Project
(OPENED on APRIL 16, 2018)
This project includes new LED athletic field lights to all three soccer fields and synthetic turf on two of the fields and adding irrigation and Bermuda turf to the third field. The synthetic turf fields were opened on April 16, 2018. The natural turf field is scheduled to be done by the Fall 2018. This project was a partnership between Mecklenburg County, Huntersville and Davidson.
