What we are looking for in our Police Officers

We are looking for service-minded, diverse, problem solvers with a desire to affect positive change within our community. We offer a wealth of training opportunities in areas such as traffic enforcement, narcotics investigation, crime scene processing, community affairs, law, investigations, crime prevention and much more.

Many of our officers and detectives participate in specialized units or operations such as criminal investigations, drug interdiction, traffic enforcement, K-9 operations, SWAT, Crisis Negotiations, School Resource Officers, Federal Task Force Officers, family violence work, and targeted crimes such as retail theft. Our career advancement opportunities allow HPD officers to go as far as their determination will take them.
