National Night Out has been held annually since 1984 and is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch in the United States and Canada. On August 1, 2006, the Town of Huntersville in cooperation with the Huntersville Police Department sponsored National Night Out for the first time. National Night Out is a national neighborhood crime prevention event, occurring annually on the first Tuesday in August. It is celebrated in numerous cities and towns across the United States. Over the past few decades, National Night Out participation has grown to over thirty-seven million people in over fifteen thousand communities to include all fifty states, US territories and military bases, as well as Canada.
We encourage individual neighborhoods to host their own events. If you chose to host an event in your neighborhood and would like our assistance or for an officer to attend your community event please complete the NNO Registration Form form.
Applications open January 1 at 6 a.m. and close July 3 at 2 p.m. If you do not meet the deadline, you may contact Lt Latza to see if there are any spots available.
