Project description for the interchange improvements on i-77 at N.C. 73

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposed to reconfigure the I-77 and N.C. 73 (Sam Furr Road) interchange.  The purpose of this project is to improve mobility and connectivity for local traffic accessing properties adjacent to this interchange. A secondary purpose is to reduce delay and congestion on N.C. 73 through the I-77/N.C. 73 interchange.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION FOR N.C. 73 Improvements from n.c. 16 to northcross drive

The purpose of the project is to increase the traffic capacity of N.C 73 and preserve long-term mobility of the corridor. A secondary purpose is to safely accommodate multi-modal uses of the corridor. Two alternatives are being developed:

  • Alternative 1: Best Fit Widening Alone Existing N.C. 73.
  • Alternative 2: Best Fit Widening Along Existing N.C 73 with Realignment.
